Sleep is important for many reasons. While you are awake, the brain burns many calories and creates waste byproducts. During sleep, small channels in the brain expand to help clear out these waste products. This process may be reason why sufficient hours of good quality sleep are linked to a lower risk of cognitive decline and dementia. Lack of sufficient sleep also increases the risk of type 2 diabetes and other chronic conditions.
Resolving Insomnia
While there are many websites out there with good advice, I have not found a site to include the following
1- in good weather, ground yourself outside for 10-15 minutes to balance your electrical current in your body that has gone out of balance from EMF's. diet, and a variety of other factors. This imbalance is often the cause of you waking up throughout the night. Alternatively, if you get a grounding sheet, it will help you sleep soundly every night.
2- Spend 15 minutes journaling your concerns and problems so you can stop thinking about them, knowing they are safely in your journal to address again tomorrow.
3- Have a small protein snack right before bed. A few almonds and walnuts with some yogurt will do the trick to keep your sleeping soundly. More detailed info is available here https://sleepisdetox.com/blog/does-eating-protein-help-you-sleep/
4- If you live in a legal state or in Canada, try a low dose cannabis cap with just 5 mg of each THC and CBD. This has been life changing for many insomniacs!
