Sunshine
Contrary to what the sunscreen industry will have you believe, the SUN IS NOT dangerous! In fact, without any sun, all plants die. We die! The sun is absolutely healing and necessary for optimal human functioning. Like everything else in life, moderation is the key and making sure you don’t get burned is the ideal. Your skin “color” will determine how much sun you can get before you burn. For me, I’m of Italian eastern European descent so I rarely burn and can tolerate hours of sun but for most people, 45 minutes to an hour a day would be perfect. Of course those of us that live in northern hemispheres need to find alternate rays in the winter but at least in the summer you can get the healing benefits from the Vitamin D creation as often as possible.
So please don’t be afraid of the sun, and if you need to be out in it for longer than you can tolerate without burning then find and use a non toxic sunscreen that can be found everywhere now. They have positively correlated those toxic sunscreens with people getting cancer so just avoid those at all costs.
Sun increases or provides:
-
Contains Infrared, which has a myriad of benefits
-
Contains Full Spectrum Light, which increases dopamine and serotonin and certain spectrums can improve mitochondrial function (red light)
-
Increases MSH and MC4R receptors
-
Increases Beta-endorphins, which improves mood
-
Relaxes the nervous system and makes us calmer
-
Increases Nitric Oxide, which helps improve blood flow
-
Increases Vitamin D
-
Increases Heat shock proteins
-
Lowers inflammation (UV is an immunosuppressant)
-
Improves Blood flow – blood flows where UV shines
-
Increases metabolism
-
Is anti-Microbial – the sun can irradiate large amounts of blood – against fungi, bacteria viruses, etc…
-
Increases CD8 Cells, which help the immune system
-
Increases sulfhydryl groups (necessary for glutathione)
-
Breaks down adrenaline, estrogen, cortisol, prolactin, progesterone (and testosterone)

Sun Exposure Decreases Risk of Dying
In southern Sweden, there was a 2X increased risk of death among those who avoided sun exposure compared with the highest sun exposure group [3].
Nonsmokers who avoided sun exposure had a life expectancy similar to smokers in the highest sun exposure group, indicating that avoidance of sun exposure is a risk factor as significant as smoking. Compared to the highest sun exposure group, life expectancy of avoiders of sun exposure was reduced by 0.6-2.1 years [4].
